Fern is the one who finally brings them to the same table. In the same emotional climax, Fern stops pushing the people who love her away. Graham Whitlock — present in the background since book one, carrying Marigold's cedar box for fifteen years without knowing why — returns fully to the foreground. Their reunion completes the romantic arc the whole series has been building toward.
