A body floats face-down in the steaming green water of the Roman Baths. Amelia Hartley has been waiting twenty-five years to write her novel. Single mother since she was barely more than a girl herself, late-blooming dreamer, fresh transplant — she came to Bath for the honey-stone cottages, the views, the quiet, and the chance, finally, to put words on a page. What she got was a corpse in two-thousand-year-old water. Wealthy Bathonians don’t end up face-down in the Roman Baths by accident. Detective Oliver Blackwood — charming, meticulous, and absolutely the worst possible person for a single mother with a deadline to find distracting — is on the case. So is his partner, Detective Harry Smith, who is approximately as charming as a wet weekend in Weston-super-Mare. Amelia came to Bath to write a page-turner. She’s ended up living one instead. Perfect for fans of Frances Evesham, Faith Martin, Verity Bright, Hannah Hendy, and readers who like their cozy mysteries with a slow-burning romance and a whisper of Dan Brown. Tropes & Hooks: Steaming Roman Baths murder mystery Aspiring novelist amateur sleuth Detective hero with a secret Slow-burn romance with serious chemistry Ancient conspiracy woven through modern Bath Single-mum heroine in her prime Cozy British heritage-city setting This is Book 1 of the five-part Somerset Secrets series — written to be devoured in a single sitting.
